Hostname settings

This menu sets two different, independent names for the appliance:

• The system hostname — the short (non-FQDN) Linux hostname, shown in the console prompt and used in the audit log. Must be alphanumeric (plus hyphen) and at most 128 characters; it must not contain a dot, i.e. no DNS domain suffix.

• The Web server FQDN — the fully qualified name (e.g. safe.corp.com) by which users reach this node’s Web GUI. This is used, among other things, as the hostname in links generated for outgoing email (see SMTP Settings) and should match the Common Name / Subject Alternative Name of the installed X.509 certificate to avoid TLS hostname mismatches. It also used by mTLS (mTLS Settings) to ensure proper redirects when validating a client x509 certificate.
